Pupils are admitted to the school via the Local Education Authority (London Borough of Havering) Admissions Panel and Hornbeam Academy Trust (www.hornbeamacademytrust.com). Children who are identified as having educational needs will have a full assessment made by an Educational Psychologist. Reports are written by parents, Social Services, Health Services, pre-school service, school, and any other agencies involved with the child prior to decisions being made. These contributions are used to support the Educational Statement of Need and Educational Health Care Plans.
Parents are asked to visit the schools that may be considered appropriate for their child. The parent’s opinion on the suitability of a school will be taken into account when the Educational Panel recommends a placement for a child.
Prior to admission to Ravensbourne, parents will meet with the Principal giving both school and family an opportunity to get used to each other. Families will be asked to fill in a number of permission forms and the Home School agreement. Information regarding the child’s medical needs must be supplied to the school nurse prior to admission, as some pupils will require a Medical Care Plan. On the pupil’s first day the parents are welcome to accompany their child.
